When I started Sun & Moon Healing Arts in 2013 my main goal was to offer holistic services that bring support and care to my clients. After a lot of thought and reflection I have decided to reopen in order to continue providing this support. I look forward to seeing everyone again and welcoming new clients to my practice as well.
There are several new guidelines and protocols that will be implemented to ensure a safe environment for us all. 1. Symptoms: If you are experiencing ANY symptoms of illness, including fever, headache, chills, cough, sneezing, (allergies will be included in prohibited conditions), digestive illness, or are not feeling well or have been in contact with someone who is sick or has recently travelled (within the past 14 days), I ask that we reschedule your appointment. I will be sure to do the same. 2. Immunocompromised: If you or anyone in your family are immunocompromised, or you live with those in a vulnerable population, we should reschedule your appointment; it is not worth the risk. 3. Waiver: You (the client) will have to sign a COVID-19 Waiver when or before you come in for your appointment, indicating that while all precautionary measures are being taken you acknowledge the risk of receiving a massage and possible transmission. 4. Masks: You must come into the building wearing a mask and must keep the mask on throughout your massage therapy session and the time you spend in the office. I have special masks being made for you to be used during your session so that I can access your face a bit. My esthetician created them for the spa industry and they are reusable for your massage sessions. The only exception will be when you are face down on the massage table. Below your face cradle will be a washable shield. As soon as you turn over on your back, the facemask must be reapplied. Throughout the entire session I will be wearing a mask as well. 5. Pre/Post Session Cleaning: I have always maintained high standards when it comes to hygiene practices pre/post all appointments. Safety of my clients is the utmost importance to me, especially during the current challenging circumstances. To ensure a safe environment for all I will disinfect every surface area with a government approved cleaner/disinfectant. All bottles, containers, pens & pencils in addition to all surfaces, faucets, door handles, toilet, etc.will be carefully wiped prior to each session. All linens are being required to be sent to a laundry service for cleaning and sanitizing. I will only have a sheet covering the table and a flannel sheet to cover you. If you require a blanket, please bring your own freshly laundered blanket. 6. Hygiene/Hand Washing/Shower: Prior to getting on the massage table you will be required to sanitize your hands. 7. Air Filtration: To improve safety measures against COVID-19, I have introduced an air filtration device in my space, the Coway Airmega 200M Hepa Air Purifier 10. Special Note: It has been highly recommended, with all the new guidelines, that if you are over the age of 65, or in a vulnerable population; or live with someone in those categories, that you forgo massage therapy for now. This is not a requirement, but a strong suggestion from our governing board. Please take it into consideration. Stay healthy & well. Namaste. Traveling is a way to lift our spirits and bring us Joy.
Having a trip to look forward to drives us to be better and work harder. Whether it is a day trip to the beach, a weekend in the mountains or a plane trip to Sedona, Arizona; all will bring us joy. I recently traveled to Sedona for a workshop and it was quite an experience. Sedona is a place that is filled with spirituality, if you can not reconnect with yourself here than its time to be honest with your true self. Its important to be present and traveling forces to you live in the moment. There was this roaring creek through town and outside my room. At night I could hear it and slept so soundly. My meditation practice was enhanced with this gift. Sedona offers you self exploration. Here you can soul search in a vortex, sweat on a red rock hike, or just sit with the Stupa. I began the trip with a crystal massage. Quite simply, that is a massage where the therapist uses crystals to achieve balance and peace within, or whatever your goals might be. In my case she placed the crystals along my spine, forehead and palms. The energy that I felt from my palms was the most powerful. It was a very tranquil session and I felt so peaceful after. The stone that resonated the most with me was Danburite. I am crystal savvy, but had never heard of this stone. I saw this as a sign that I needed to get a piece of this stone. I went to a few shops quickly realizing that it was rare. I walked into a crystal boutique that sold fancy jewelry and inquired about Danburite. The woman said that she had 1 pendant of it. I took that as a sign that it was waiting for me. I loved it and bought the pendant. She showed me information about the stone and it originated in Danbury,CT. I live very close to there so I found that interesting. It also said that it is a good stone for soothing the heart. I recently had to put down my dog so anything that soothes my heart is welcome. It was one of those moments where I was lead with my heart. When you follow your intuition through life, its amazing where it will bring you. Intuition is more valuable than your intelligence. To truly experience Sedona, I went for hike up the most glorious mountain called Doe MT. Hiking is a great way to be engulfed by nature. Here is where any transformation can begin. I think as humans it is very important to evolve and we should always be a work in progress. Change should be embraced not feared. The vortex was also a place to reconnect with yourself. You walk around or hike just observing the beauty of the twisted Juniper trees and red rocks. It's such a unique hike that keeps you grounded while increasing in elevation. The trees are twisted from being in a vortex of healing energy, its important to touch the trees and rocks to receive the loving energy. I also checked out the Amitabha Stupa. It's a peace park in Sedona filled with Buddha's and offerings. The Stupa itself is a tall monument with a Buddha inside that people walk around clockwise and set intentions. It's hard to put into words the feeling here. It's spiritual without being pushy. You just feel the healing energy. Even the skeptics would feel it. I set my intentions and walked peacefully through the park. I ended the trip with a Pink Jeep Tour. This was exhilarating! It's an off road adventure while experiencing agave plants, prickly pear cactus, red rocks, wind and the allure of Sedona. This was the time to let lose, laugh and have fun. A perfect vacation is one that is filled with many elements. Nature, fun, history, spirituality, beauty, water. Traveling is important for everyone. It drags you out of your comfort zone so growth can truly happen. It's where we reconnect and find ourselves. It's the moments of uncertainty we understand who we really are. Traveling has brought me so much joy in life as well as self exploration. I am honestly not sure who I would be if not for traveling. I am so grateful for these experiences to help me grow and expand. I try to live life by following my intuition first and then listening to my intelligence. Namaste, Denise 15 Foods you don't need to buy organic!
Organic foods can positively affect weight, growth, fertility and even immune function. They keep pesticides out of your diet, while it can also be hard to keep within your budget, that is to say, not everyone can afford to eat a 100% organic diet. Read on to find out which foods are least likely to be contaminated with pesticide residues, and are therefore safest to purchase as non-organic, if needed. Asparagus According to EWG analyses, asparagus is one of the vegetables that is least likely to contain pesticide residue. This spring vegetable is a nutrient-packed source of vitamins, minerals and essential proteins. It is rich in vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B-6, folate, C, E and K. Asparagus is also packed with antioxidants, ranking among the top fruits and vegetables for its ability to neutralize cell-damaging free radicals. Avocado Avocado is a safe fruit to buy non-organic because of its thick outer skin, which prevents pesticides from touching the edible fruit. Avocado contains in excess of 25 essential nutrients, including vitamin A, B, C, E, & K, copper, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium. It has tons of benefits for overall health: Maintains a healthy heart, controls blood pressure, lowers cholesterol levels, promotes eyes health, protects against cancer and it's also a super food for healthy skin because of its ability to nourish the skin and make your skin glow. Cantaloupe Due to the tough skin of a cantaloupe pesticide residue cannot touch the edible fruit inside of cantaloupe. This is a good source of fiber, folate, B vitamins, vitamin C and K, and betacarotene, an antioxidant that helps keep eyes, skin and hair healthy. Cauliflower With very low or no discernible pesticide residue, conventionally-grown cauliflower is safe to buy. Cauliflower is high in dietary fiber, folate, potassium and vitamin C. It also contains glucosinolates, sulfur-containing compounds that help the body detoxify. Carrots Conventionally-grown carrots have pesticide residue on their surface, so it is easily removed when you peel them. Carrots have the ability to increase the health of your skin, improve eyesight, boost the immune system, improve digestion, increase cardiovascular health, detoxify the body, and boost oral health in a variety of ways. Eggplant Many of the pesticides used to grow commercial eggplant do not remain on the skin, so it is generally a safe choice. Eggplant contains certain essential nutrients and it's low in calories, with only 35 calories per cup. It's also with heart-healthy benefits. Kiwi Pesticides are rarely used on kiwis, so you don't need to buy them organic. Higher in vitamin C per ounce than most other fruits, eating kiwis may promote healthy skin, reduce blood pressure and help prevent heart disease and stroke. Mushroom Mushrooms have very little pesticide residue, so it is fine to purchase the conventionally-grown variety. Packed with fiber, mushrooms are also rich in B vitamins ,selenium, potassium, copper, iron and phosphorus. And mushrooms are the only plant source of vitamin D, which is essential for healthy bones and can help prevent osteoporosis. By Beverly Entin http://blogs.naturalnews.com/15-foods-dont-need-buy-organic/ Â 11 Foods that are worth buying organic Food today is filled with harmful pesticides and hormones that ruin a person's health. These harmful elements are leading to the increase in the growing number of untreatable diseases. Organic foods may cost a little bit more that your usual grocery but at least you'll have the satisfaction of putting healthy food in your body. Below are the top ten foods that are worth every penny you spend on them. Apples 98% of the apples available in the market have residues of general pesticides on them. This makes them unhealthy because they have traces of synthetic fertilizers along with animal antibiotics which are harmful for human beings. Salmon Wild fresh water salmon is pricier than the farmed Atlantic salmon that is cheaper and full of antibiotics overuse. Wild caught salmon is available in cans, starting from three dollars per can. Salmon that is kept frozen after being caught is also safe to consume. Milk Use of growth hormones and rBST on cows for producing more milk renders it less and less organic. There have been debates over the milk's potential to cause cancer in the American Cancer Society. If you can't find a reliable organic store selling organic milk then do look for labels on conventional milk containers that indicate the non-usage of rBST. Ground Beef Beef filled with fatty scraps is heated and treated with various chemicals in most plants. To find your organic beef, meet up with a local organic beef producer or go to markets that sell organic beef. With purchasing organic beef from your local market, you can take and grind cuts of your choices avoiding health risks. Canned Tomatoes Preserved canned tomatoes are known to contain an endocrine disrupting element called bisphenol-A or BPA. Organic tomatoes preserved in jars and distributed by Eden foods are said to have no traces of BPA. Boxed tomatoes are also a good option as BPA has been linked to health risks associated with pregnant women and diseases like adult diabetes including heart problems. Chicken Organically raised birds are less liable to spreading salmonella through their meat as compared to birds raised in the prevailing feedlot way. Cooking your chicken properly can reduce your chances of getting salmonella in your system but choosing an organically raised bird lowers the risk to quite a considerable extent. Celery According to the Environmental Working Group, majority of the celery found across the states is rigged with multiple pesticides. Be sure to find a reliable source for buying your pesticide-free celery. Chain Sushi Tuna scrape found in sushi packs have become a growing threat to salmonella outbreak. The stuffing in sushi rolls is made from various animal ingredients. Be sure to ask your vendor for nagiri sushi which is considerably safer. Peaches According to the Environmental Working Group, peaches have been tested for containing more than fifty seven chemicals coming from different pesticides. That's a lot more than any other available food produce in the market. Be careful and look for organically grown peaches just to be on the safe side. Strawberries and Blueberries Berries are sensitive and heavily exposed they don't have a tough outer shell or skin to protect them. Because they grow largely unprotected, they are more susceptible to pests, and pesticides are often the solution. Shop Local Food Supermarkets often look for food that can be kept on the shelves longer and is easier for shipping. Selecting local produce is a good idea because it's more likely to retain freshness and taste along with good nutrients. By Beverly Entin http://blogs.naturalnews.com/11-foods-worth-buying-organic/ |
